Hyderabad: A day after some Congress MLAs accused Forest Minister Konda Surekha and her family of damaging the party’s reputation through their comments, the Minister urged the TPCC Disciplinary Committee to initiate action against them.
The Minister expressed anguish over the fact that several Congress MLAs and leaders continued to target her and her family members with humiliating remarks despite her submitted an explanation to the committee’s notice.
She wrote a letter to Committee Chairman Mallu Ravi on Saturday.
“People orchestrating this matter from behind the scenes should be identified and strict disciplinary action should be taken against them,” Konda Surekha demanded.
The Minister also wanted the committee to examine whether attempts were being made to influence its independent decision-making process. She alleged that public criticism, statements about her political future and demands for action were being made while the party’s disciplinary inquiry was still underway.
“I have the utmost respect for party discipline. At the same time, it is concerning that party leadership remains silent while a senior BC woman leader is subjected to collective attacks involving harsh language,” Konda Surekha said.
She added that the party leadership should scrutinise the motives of those appearing before the media to pass judgment on her political future and demand action against her.
