CISCE opens registrations for SHINE 2026 assessment

Hyderabad: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has opened registrations for CISCE SHINE (Student Holistic Insight and Nurturing Evaluation) 2026, a new-generation digital assessment designed to help schools understand students’ learning needs and provide timely support.

Key assessments under SHINE are designed to move assessment beyond conventional year-end examinations towards a timelier and more meaningful understanding of student learning. The initiative will assess students at three important stages of schooling, based on the competencies expected in Classes III, V and VIII. Students currently studying in Classes IV, VI and IX will participate in the assessment, which will be conducted from November 15 to 30.

For Class IV students, the assessment will use a game-based format, while students in Classes VI and IX will take digital assessments based on Class V and VIII competencies, respectively. A significant feature of SHINE is its potential to enable schools to understand how learning progresses across different stages of schooling, with comparative insights that can eventually span Classes III, V, VIII, X and XII.

Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Chief Executive & Secretary, CISCE, said, “SHINE is an effort to make assessment more meaningful, timely and useful for schools, teachers and students.” Registrations are open via the CISCE official portal.
