Yemeni armed forces have launched a fresh wave of precision strikes against Saudi-backed military positions in the governorates of Marib and the Red Sea port city of Mocha, escalating pressure on the Riyadh-backed faction as the war enters a new phase.
A Yemeni military source, speaking to Saba News Agency, confirmed the operations and detailed the scope of the assault, stating that the armed forces targeted military buildups belonging to the Saudi enemy in the Mocha area and Marib governorate with a number of ballistic missiles and drones.
Emphasizing the tactical success of the operations, the source added that the hits were precise and direct, resulting in some casualties and the destruction of several warehouses and weapons.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-backed remnant of fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi’s administration, currently operating from the south of the country, acknowledged the assault. The faction claimed that Yemeni forces fired six ballistic missiles and launched four drones at Marib over the weekend.
These latest operations are part of a broader, strategic escalation following Yemen’s July 20 announcement of a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
This decisive move was declared in direct retaliation for the devastating 12-year siege imposed on Yemen by Riyadh and its allies.
The pressure campaign has been relentless. In early August, Yemeni forces conducted similar missile and drone strikes on military camps in Marib and Hadramawt, reportedly neutralizing at least 30 Saudi-backed personnel.
Consequently, sustained Yemeni missile and drone operations have successfully forced the complete suspension of maritime and commercial activities at the strategic Mocha port.
Ultimately, these military actions represent a calculated and unwavering effort by the Yemeni armed forces to compel Saudi Arabia to lift its crippling blockade on Yemen, long considered the poorest nation in the Arab world, and to bring an end to its prolonged aggression.
