Yemen’s armed forces will target oil fields, desalination plants, airports and electricity transmission lines across Saudi Arabia if it decides to launch a comprehensive war against its southern neighbor, says a senior Ansarullah member.
Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, with the political bureau of the Yemeni resistance movement, said on Wednesday that in such a scenario Yemen’s response will not be limited to military targets alone.
He said energy transit lines, power grids, airports and critical infrastructure are all vulnerable, and that the Yemeni armed forces will take retaliatory measures against any threat.
“Over the past 12 years, the Yemeni military units have gained valuable experience concerning direct military confrontations with Israel, the United States, Britain, and Saudi Arabia,” Bukhaiti said.
The Yemeni armed forces designate their targets meticulously, he added, and are currently targeting weapons depots and positions of Saudi forces.
The senior Ansarullah official said Saudi officials are keeping a complete media blackout on the kingdom’s losses and casualties as a result of the reprisal Yemeni operations.
“We are currently only targeting the enemy’s military installations. We advise Saudi-backed Yemeni mercenaries to pull all forces out of their military camps, and save their lives.”
Bukhaiti also emphasized that Yemeni forces will fight on the expansionism and warmongering of the Zionist regime. “Yemeni forces will target any military or intelligence presence of Israel in Somalia or other places near the borders of Yemen.”
On July 20, the Sana’a government declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, claiming that the Riyadh authorities have maintained “an unjust and oppressive siege” on Yemen for nearly 12 years, “exploiting our resources and imposing a complete blockade.”
The Yemeni armed forces have subsequently announced many successful missions targeting Saudi-linked vessels in the Red Sea.
Back in March 2015, Saudi Arabia along with its allies enforced a blockade on Yemen, launching an all-out onslaught supported militarily, politically, and logistically by the United States and certain Western nations.
Tens of thousands of Yemenis have been killed, but Saudi Arabia has not succeeded to obtain its main objective of reinstating a puppet regime that aligns with its interests.
