Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, the body of a six-month-old infant buried at a graveyard in Punjagutta had mysteriously disappeared within hours, leaving the grieving family devastated.

The infant was one of the twins who had recently died due to health complications within a day of each other.

According to information available, a couple from Ghansi Bazaar in Charminar had six-month-old twins who were undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital in Banjara Hills due to health complications. One of the infants died on Saturday.

The family took the infant’s body to the Punjagutta Hindu graveyard on Road No. 3 in Banjara Hills on Sunday and buried it. The graveyard staff reportedly charged the family Rs 2,500 for the burial.

Tragedy struck again on Sunday night when the couple’s second infant also died. On Monday afternoon, the family returned to the crematorium with the second child’s body, intending to perform rituals and bury the twins together.

However, they were shocked to find that the burial spot of the first infant had already been dug up and the body was missing.

The family reportedly questioned the graveyard staff and demanded an explanation, leading to an argument. After performing the last rites of the second infant, the family approached Banjara Hills police and lodged a complaint.

Police registered a case and are investigating. The graveyard staff were reportedly detained and were being questioned.

Police are looking into how the infant’s body disappeared, whether there was negligence on the part of the staff, or whether there was any other reason behind the incident. Officials have not yet disclosed case details.
