Sangareddy: Bonalu festivities organised in a play school turned tragic as one of the students drowned in Tellapur lake while the staff were engaged in organising the festivities on Thursday.
The play school was located very close to Tellapur lake. The 6-year-old boy, Shanmukh, walked out of the school while the remaining students and staff were engaged in Bonalu celebrations. His father, Uday Kiran, dropped the child at the school in the morning, but received a call from the school management within a couple of hours.
When he reached the school, the staff had retrieved the body from the water. The Kollur police registered a case and the body was shifted to the government hospital in Patancheru for postmortem. Holding the management responsible for Shanmukh’s death, the parents accused them of being negligent while the boy walked out of the school.
