The 12th National Handloom Day was celebrated at Shilparamam, Madhapur, with participation from actors, handloom artisans and officials. The event showcased traditional handloom sarees, highlighted the challenges faced by weavers and promoted India’s rich handloom heritage.

Shilparamam hosts 12th National Handloom Day celebrations in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The serene and sprawling environs of Shilparamam Madhapur played host to the 12th National Handloom Day jointly organised by the Office of the Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and the Weavers’ Service Centre, Hyderabad.

Celebrity actor and animal welfare activist Amala Akkineni, along with actors Jayalalitha and Gayatri Bhargavi, participated in the event that was held in association with Shilparamam and had active involvement of handloom artisans.


Arun Kumar, Head of the Weavers’ Service Center, Gajam Govardhan, Gajam Anjaiah, Chinthakindi Mallesham, and others attended the event as chief guests and viewed the handloom sarees displayed in the Ethnic Hall. They learned about the intricacies and challenges involved in the handloom weaving process.
