Lashkar Bonalu begins at Ujjaini Mahakali Temple as devotees throng Secunderabad shrine

The popular Lashkar Bonalu festival commenced at the Ujjaini Mahakali Temple in Secunderabad on Sunday, drawing thousands of devotees, especially women. Long queues, traditional Potharaju and Shivasattulu performances, and visits by dignitaries marked the vibrant celebrations.

Lashkar Bonalu begins at Ujjaini Mahakali Temple as devotees throng Secunderabad shrine

Hyderabad: Popular Lashkar Bonalu began at the Ujjaini Mahakali temple in Secunderabad on Sunday, with devotees in large numbers and women devotees in particular thronging the temple since early hours.

The temple area stayed densely crowded from the early hours of Sunday as devotees offered their prayers and Bonalu. All six queue lines led to the main sanctum of the temple were packed with women devotees.


Police and temple authorities are managing the moving lines. The waiting time in the queue lines exceeds two to three hours.

The Potharajus dances and Shivasattulu dances were performed rhythmically around the temple premises, creating a spiritual environment.

VIPs throng temple:

Separate queue lines were arranged for the VIPs at the temple. Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar and their family members visited the temple and offered Bonam to the Goddess Ujjaini Mahakali.
