Hyderabad: Amid controversy over the registration of FIRs against Meta India head Arun Srinivas and several Facebook and Instagram accounts, the Telangana police has relieved Hyderabad Cybercrime DCP V Aravind Babu from his post and directed him to report to the Police Headquarters.

The action follows scrutiny over two cybercrime cases registered following complaints alleging that objectionable and morphed content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi was being circulated on Meta-owned platforms.

The FIRs had sparked controversy, prompting a review by the State government. While officials have not disclosed the specific reasons for the transfer, it is learnt that the decision was taken after examining the circumstances surrounding the registration of the cases.
