Aryna Sabalenka vs Qinwen Zheng, Aus Open Live: Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka has won the first set of Australian Open women’s singles final match against China’s Qinwen Zheng. The Belarus star registered a scoreline of 6-3 in the opening set. Sabalenka will bid to become the first woman to defend the Australian Open title since 2013, but Zheng has her own date with destiny. Sabalenka yet to drop a set in Melbourne this year, sweeping all-comers aside until fourth seed Coco Gauff put up a stiffer challenge in the semi-finals.

    After successfully winning the first set, Aryna Sabalenka continues to cast her magic in the second set as well. The defending champion has won the opening two games of this round. In the first game, she registers a scoreline of 40-30, followed by the same result in the second game. Qinwen Zheng needs to bounce back now.

    Aryna Sabalenka has successfully won the first set of the women’s singles final. In the ninth game, both players give their best shot as the scores were levelled at 15-all. However, Sabalenka takes the lead and finishes the round with 40-30 lead and claiming the first set with a scoreline of 6-3.

    Trailing 2-5, Qinwen Zheng makes a good comeback in the eighth game. Despite trailing 0-40, she holds her nerves and makes it 40-40 and takes the game in deuce. Later, she claims the game as the scoreline of the first set reads, Sabalenka 5: Zheng 3.

    Arya Sabalenka is inching closer to claim the first set in the final match of the women’s singles. In the seventh game, Sabalenka takes the serve and finishes the round with a scoreline of 40-15, extending her lead 5-2 in the first set. She is just one more game away from winning the opening set.

    Aryna Sabalenka extends her lead in the fifth game, making it 4-1. However, Qinwen Zheng did not lose hope and gave a remarkable comeback in the sixth game. The Chinese star takes an early 15-0 lead, which gets equalized by Sabalenka. Later, Zheng completes the game with 40-15 scoreline, trailing 2-4 in the first set.
