Iran FM Araghchi warns compromised US officials against mindless aggression

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly criticized certain elements within the US administration for ignoring realities on the ground and pushing policies that would only raise the cost of any potential agreement.

In a post on X on Thursday, Araghchi wrote, “Compromised individuals in the U.S. administration are burying their heads in the sand.”

“They ignore the realities on the ground and seem focused only on 2028. The mindless aggression they advocate will only ensure that POTUS pays heavier price for deal he’s trying to achieve,” he added.

The remarks come following the illegal US-Israeli aggression against Iran and ongoing efforts related to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to end hostilities and restore stability in the region, including the Strait of Hormuz.

Araghchi’s comments underscore Tehran’s firm position that any further adventurism or denial of Iran’s legitimate defensive achievements and sovereign rights will only complicate diplomacy and impose greater costs on Washington.

Iran has repeatedly made clear that progress toward de-escalation requires the United States to abandon its irrational, excessive, and hegemonic approach and to respect the Iranian nation’s interests, rather than allowing short-sighted voices focused on domestic political calendars to dictate policy.

Iran remains fully prepared to defend every inch of its territory and infrastructure with a powerful and decisive response, while continuing to pursue responsible diplomacy based on mutual respect and the rejection of foreign domination.
