Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserts that any attack on Iran’s infrastructural facilities entails a befitting response targeting the aggressors and those aiding them.
“Our defense doctrine is clear: eye for an eye,” the top diplomat stated in a post on X on Tuesday.
“Any aggression against Iran, including our infrastructure, will compel a powerful and decisive response,” he added.
“Those who contribute to such aggression, whatever the kind of support, will also be considered as legitimate targets.”
The remarks came after US President Donald Trump said US forces would target Iranian bridges or power plants in response to the Islamic Republic’s efforts to prevent illegal vessel movement through the waterway.
The foreign minister’s remarks echoed those made earlier by Iran’s top military command and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s Aerospace Force in response to the threat.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters vowed to totally prevent global oil transit through the Strait of Hormuz if the United States acted on its threat.
“It is hereby announced that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Should any vessel be permitted to transit the strait, it must do so exclusively via the designated route and in accordance with the previously announced procedures,” it said.
The IRGC Aerospace Force’s Commander, Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Mousavi also warned that any US attack on Iranian bridges or power plants would be met with immediate retaliation.
“If our bridges and power plants are violated, blackouts for the allies and hosts of the child-killers are certain,” he wrote on X.
