Hyderabad: Sailing in Hyderabad in July is among the trickiest inland tests in the country — and that is exactly what makes Hussain Sagar such a proving ground. Day 2 of the 6th YAI Secunderabad Club GMR Sports Youth Open Regatta 2026 delivered full monsoon conditions: constant rain, harsh squalls and winds that shifted without warning.

The sailors who read the gusts and shifts early made gains, while those who fought the conditions lost ground — a day that showed the value of good coaching and sharp in-race tactics. Mind over muscle.

The champions of the opening day held their nerve. Secunderabad Sailing Club girls Shringhari Roy continuous leads over SK Rameeza Bhanu of TSA and Srishti Singh of Secunderabad Sailing Club(SSC), in the Optimist Main girls’ fleet, while B Ravi Kumar of TSA stayed top of the Optimist Main boys’ fleet. Hriethik Amar Jaiswal of TSC continued to lead ILCA 6 boys, and India’s No.1 29er pair Akash Tangai and Krishna Diwakar of TSC held the front of their fleet.

The girls’ fleets produced some of the standout sailing of the day. Tulsi Patle of NSS leads ILCA 4 girls with a near-flawless card, and Krithika Vishwanathan of the host Secunderabad Sailing Club sits second, the two of them setting the pace in a fiercely contested fleet.
