Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, party working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) and legislative party deputy leader T Harish Rao paid tributes to noted poet and freedom fighter Dasarathi Krishnamacharyulu marking his birth anniversary on Wednesday.

Recalling Dasarathi’s role in the Telangana Armed Struggle, Chandrashekhar Rao called him as a warrior who defended Telangana’s identity through his writings even while imprisoned. Referring to his famous words, “Naa Telangana Koti Ratanaala Veena,” he said Dasarathi’s spirit of protecting Telangana’s self-respect and identity remained relevant even today.


He recalled that the previous BRS government officially celebrated Dasarathi’s birth anniversary and instituted a literary award in his name in recognition of his contribution to Telangana’s literary and cultural heritage.

Rama Rao said Dasarathi stood firmly with the oppressed and inspired generations through his writings. He noted that the poet used his pen to fight authoritarian rule and awaken the people of Telangana. He recalled that the BRS government had honoured Dasarathi by instituting a literary award and observing his birth anniversary officially every year.

Harish Rao termed Dasarathi as a multifaceted personality who ignited the spirit of the Telangana Armed Struggle and envisioned an egalitarian society free from hunger and inequality.
