Hyderabad police probe IPS officer’s alleged suicide bid following harassment case

Hyderabad: Trainee Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Uday Krishna Reddy, who recently came under the scanner following allegations of sexual harassment by a fellow trainee, is now facing further scrutiny after police began investigating the circumstances surrounding his alleged suicide attempt.

The officer was admitted to a private hospital in SR Nagar after reportedly consuming a poisonous substance. He was treated, and his condition was later declared stable.

However, while the incident was initially believed to be a suicide attempt, police are now examining whether it was a genuine attempt to end his life or an act intended to influence the course of the investigation against him.

According to sources, preliminary findings suggest that there was no trace of drugs or poison in his blood and urine samples. But an alcohol overdose was detected.

The alleged suicide attempt occurred shortly after a criminal case was registered against the trainee officer based on a complaint lodged by a fellow IPS probationer in Attapur, on Saturday.

In her complaint, the woman accused him of repeated sexual harassment, stalking, criminal intimidation and other offences. She also alleged that he subjected her to continuous mental distress through repeated phone calls and messages despite her objections.

Police have begun collecting electronic evidence, including mobile phone records, digital communications and other material that may help establish the sequence of events.

Statements from the complainant, Uday Krishna, and other individuals connected to the case are also being recorded.

Meanwhile, Uday Krishna has denied all allegations, maintaining that the complaint against him is fabricated in his social media post.
