Kerala hikes natural rubber support price to Rs 250 per kg

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Monday said it has increased the support price of natural rubber from Rs 200 to Rs 250 per kg, fulfilling a key budget promise aimed at providing relief to rubber farmers.

The enhanced support price, announced under the Rubber Production Incentive Scheme, will be applicable to bills from July 3, 2026, a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said. Chief Minister V D Satheesan had announced the hike in the state Budget, citing the need to support rubber growers amid rising production costs.

Farmers, rubber producers’ organisations and public representatives had been demanding an increase in the support price in view of the sharp rise in cultivation expenses. Following these demands, the government decided to raise the support price by Rs 50 per kg, from Rs 200 to Rs 250, the statement added.
