Iraqi anti-terror resistance groups have carried out a series of attacks against three military bases housing US occupation troops in Syria and Iraq over Washington’s support for the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, in a statement published on its Telegram channel claimed responsibility for the missile and drone strikes against the US-run facilities at Kharab al-Jir Airport and Conoco gas field in Syria’s eastern provinces of Hasakah and Dayr al-Zawr respectively.

The statement added that it had also targeted the US-occupied installation at Erbil International Airport in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

The group noted that the attacks were carried out in protest at the presence of American occupation forces in Iraq and elsewhere in the West Asia region and in retaliation for US support of Israel’s bloody war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

There were no immediate reports about the extent of damage at the military facilities or possible casualties.

The United States, Israel’s biggest ally, has provided the regime with a raft of arms and ammunition since the initiation of the Gaza war.

Washington has also vetoed UN Security Council resolutions calling for a ceasefire.

Israel waged the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance groups of Hamas and Islamic Jihad carried out the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm into the occupied territories in response to the occupying regime’s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.

According to the Gaza-based health ministry, at least 23,843 Palestinians have been killed in the strikes, most of them women and children, and another 60,317 individuals injured.

Tel Aviv has also imposed a “complete siege” on Gaza, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
