Hyderabad to get India’s first Green Skills and Applied AI Centre of Excellence

Hyderabad: 1M1B Foundation, Microsoft, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology’s Startup Hub, and the State government have announced the setting up of the Green Skills & Applied AI Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad.

The Centre, which is expected to begin operations by August, will be India’s first Green Skills & Applied AI Centre of Excellence featuring a specialized green pharma track. It will be operated by the 1M1B Foundation, while Microsoft, under its CSR initiative, will support it through AI technologies, digital learning resources, employee mentorship, innovation challenges, and capacity-building programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, IT Minister D Sridhar Babu said the proposed Centre aligns with the State’s vision of developing a future-ready workforce.

1M1B Foundation Founder and CEO Manav Subodh said through the Centre the company would prepare youth to use AI to transform green pharma, advance sustainable manufacturing, and build the workforce for an AI-powered green economy.
Microsoft India Development Centre Managing Director and President Rajiv Kumar said the Microsoft’s goal is to equip youth—especially women and first-generation learners—with applied AI and green skills, while connecting them with internships and employment opportunities in the green economy.
