Hyderabad: Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) to file their response in a writ petition seeking an independent technical assessment of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.
The writ petition was filed by Srirambhatla Sharath Kumar seeking a direction to the NDSA to conduct an independent inspection of the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages, along with the Kannepalli and Sundilla pump houses, under the Dam Safety Act, 2021.
The petitioner contended that despite serious structural concerns surrounding the project, the authorities have failed to undertake a contemporaneous technical assessment to determine whether any part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme is capable of safe and restricted utilisation.
Taking note of the submissions, Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy directed the National Dam Safety Authority to file their response and posted the matter for further hearing.
