Hyderabad: India’s first Chhota Bheem Cafe, inspired by the popular animated series, was launched in Jubilee Hills on Tuesday, with Green Gold Animation partnering with EBG Group to bring the fictional world of Dholakpur to life through a family-focused dining and entertainment destination.
The flagship cafe recreates the world of Chhota Bheem and his friends, including Chutki, Raju and Jaggu, offering an immersive space where families can dine, celebrate birthdays and take part in themed activities. Apart from a character-inspired dining experience, visitors can also explore exclusive toys and merchandise.
Positioned as a children’s wellness destination, the cafe seeks to combine healthy food, play and learning. It also marks Green Gold Animation’s foray into experiential hospitality by creating a destination that brings together nutrition, entertainment and engagement.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns over childhood nutrition. Citing National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-6 data, the organisers said only 15.3 per cent of children aged 6-23 months receive an adequate diet, an improvement from 11 per cent recorded in NFHS-5, while still highlighting the need for healthier eating habits.
To address this, the brand has introduced a nutrition-focused Bento Box subscription service for school-going children, offering fresh and balanced breakfast and lunch options through offline delivery channels and cafe outlets.
Speaking at the launch, EBG Group plan, Founder and Chairman of EBG Group, said the concept was designed to offer families more than just a dining experience by bringing together healthy food, play, learning and shared experiences. He said the venture also aims to create employment opportunities in hospitality, operations and franchising as it expands.
Rajiv Chilaka, Founder and CEO of Green Gold Animation, said Chhota Bheem had been a part of Indian households for nearly two decades and the cafe was an opportunity for children and families to experience the beloved characters beyond television. He said the project was the first step towards taking the company’s intellectual property into everyday experiences through food, play and storytelling.
The menu features millet-based pizzas and burgers, healthier snacks, themed desserts, signature beverages and the franchise’s iconic Power Laddoos, while also catering to adults. The cafe will also host Junior Chef Quest, a supervised cooking programme aimed at encouraging creativity, teamwork and confidence among children. A children’s membership programme featuring workshops, rewards and educational activities is planned for the future.
The Jubilee Hills outlet is the first in a phased expansion plan. Green Gold Animation and EBG Group plan to invest Rs. 50 crore to establish 25 Chhota Bheem Cafe centres across major Tier-I cities in the first year, with a long-term goal of expanding to 50 outlets over the next three years through franchise-led growth. The expansion is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect jobs while adhering to FSSAI food safety standards and sustainable operational practices. The company also plans to develop similar concepts around other characters from its animation portfolio.
