Leopard movements reported in Khanapur, Gudur forest fringe villages in Mahabubabad

A leopard has been sighted multiple times near villages in Gudur mandal, Mahabubabad district, sparking concern among residents. Forest officials confirmed pugmarks, advised caution, and are monitoring the situation at Pakalavaagu and Kodicheruvu.

Leopard movements reported in Khanapur, Gudur forest fringe villages in Mahabubabad

Mahabubabad: The movements of a leopard in Khanapur and Gudur forest fringe villages in the district have been causing concern among the residents. 

A few days ago, the leopard was spotted in a mango orchard at Dasru thanda in Gudur mandal and it was found moving in the fields at Kodicheruvu on Saturday evening. Upon receiving information from the locals the forest department officials visited the spot on Sunday. 


Gudur Forest Range Officer (FRO) Prasad Rao confirmed that the pugmarks found at the spot belonged to a leopard. The officials advised farmers and residents of nearby villages to remain vigilant and take precautions against going to their fields alone. 

They also urged people to inform forest officials if they spot the leopard or notice any suspicious movements and not to harm the animal. The forest department staff were continuously monitoring the situation at Pakalavaagu and Kodicheruvu, the officials said.
