KV Golconda wins girls’ title at Eddie Aibara junior cricket tournament


Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 (Golconda) won the girls’ under-14 title at the Eddie Aibara Junior Cricket Tournament, while SCF Blues claimed the boys’ under-12 crown. Laxmi Raj starred with four wickets as KV Golconda secured a comfortable victory

KV Golconda wins girls’ title at Eddie Aibara junior cricket tournament

Hyderabad: Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 (Golconda) emerged champions in the girls’ under-14 category of the Eddie Aibara Junior Cricket Tournament for boys and girls (under-12 and under-14) at the Col C K Nayudu Floodlit Ground (Masab Tank) here.

Batting first, KV Golconda scored 52 for three in eight overs. In reply, Safdaria Girls School was bowled out for 34, with Laxmi Raj (4/12) being the main wicket-taker.


In the boys’ under-12 final, SCF Blues recorded a seven-wicket win over KV Golconda.

Former Ranji cricketer and Founder Secretary of SCF K Sai Baba gave away the prizes.

Farhan was named the Player of the Tournament in the under-14 category and was presented with an English willow bat and cricket balls.

Sai Baba said that these tournaments were being conducted to help promote equality, build confidence and discover young sporting talent through SCF’s Building India Through Sports mission.

The scores: Under-14: Girls: KV No. 1, Golconda 52/3 in 8 overs (Anamika 22) bt Safdaria Girls School 34 (Laxmi Raj 4/12).

Under-12: Boys: KV Golconda 62/4 in 8 overs (Venkat 32) lost to SCF Blues 63/3 in 7.2 overs (G Jashwanth 25).
