Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the JNTU-Hyderabad campus here on Thursday as a large number of students staged a protest demanding the university administration grant 0.50 percent grace marks, which is equivalent to 30 marks, for students admitted under the R22 regulations. Following the demonstration, the police detained the student activists and shifted them to the police station.
Students Protection Forum president Rahul Naik demanded the university issue orders allowing 30 grace marks to be distributed across up to six subjects.
Protesters questioned why the university was extending the same policy to R22 students when R18 regulation students, as well as R21 students had previously been granted 30 grace marks.
“We will escalate the issue with the Higher Education department and continue the protest until the demand is met,” protesters said.
Student activists – Srinikethan, Nithin Reddy, Siddharth Patel, Ruthvik, Srihas, Sai Kumar, Sri Vardhan, Praneeth, Raj Kumar, Chakravarthi, Tanu Kumar, Anand, Gautham, Rahul Samala, Akshitha Reddy, and among others also participated.
