Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force on Wednesday rescued a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a group of persons with criminal backgrounds after they reportedly lured her into leaving her house with expensive mobile phones and cash more than a month ago.
According to police sources, the minor left her residence on June 1 at the behest of a group of youngsters against whom several property offence cases are registered at different police stations.
The suspects allegedly sold the stolen mobile phones and confined the girl in a house at Ghousenagar, Bandlaguda. A kidnapping case was registered at the Falaknuma Police Station on June 3, following which police launched efforts to trace the missing girl.
Acting on a tip-off, the Commissioner’s Task Force conducted a raid on the house in Bandlaguda on Wednesday evening and rescued the girl. Two suspects have been detained in connection with the kidnapping, while police are searching for several other suspects, including women who allegedly helped confine the minor and failed to inform the police about her whereabouts.
The rescued girl was shifted to the Bharosa Centre, where her statement will be recorded before further legal proceedings.
Police sources said investigators are also probing a possible women and child trafficking angle in the case. Further investigation is underway, and efforts are continuing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
