Hyderabad: Justice T Madhavi Devi of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the State government to continue providing the Bullet Resistant Vehicle (BRV) to retired IPS officer and BRS leader Dr R S Praveen Kumar and asked the Director General of Police to consider his representation seeking the restoration of the security vehicle.
The direction came in a writ petition filed by Dr R S Praveen Kumar challenging the decision of the authorities to withdraw the Bullet Resistant Vehicle allotted to him without conducting a fresh threat assessment or giving him an opportunity to be heard.
The petitioner contended that despite continuing security threats from CPI (Maoist) extremists, the authorities had directed the return of the vehicle without assigning any reasons.
Taking note of the submissions, Justice Madhavi Devi directed that the Bullet Resistant Vehicle presently provided to the petitioner shall continue. The Court also directed the Director General of Police to consider the petitioner’s representation seeking the restoration of the vehicle in accordance with the law.
