Israel confirms it deployed Iron Dome to UAE amid war on Iran

An Israeli cabinet member has confirmed that the Iron Dome battery was deployed to the United Arab Emirates during the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

Miri Regev, the regime’s minister of transportation, confirmed this in an interview with the Israeli regime forces radio Galei Tzahal, the Times of Israel reported on Sunday.

The former spokeswoman for the Israeli military said Abu Dhabi has the Israeli regime’s support. “The UAE has realized that ballistic missiles are one of the biggest problems, and they enjoy our support,” she said.

This is the first acknowledgment by a senior Israeli official about the deployment of the Iron Dome batteries to the UAE. However, US media citing Israeli sources had already highlighted that the Israeli regime sent the UAE an Iron Dome air defense system with troops to operate it early in the war on Iran.

In late April, Axios news website reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the regime’s military to send an Iron Dome system along with interceptors and several dozen operators after a call with Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed.

The US and Israel launched their war of aggression against Iran on February 28. The two enemies used the territories of the Persian Gulf states — Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan— for launching airstrikes against Iran.

During 40 days of intense fighting, Iranian Armed Forces retaliated with over 100 waves of missile and drone strikes against the occupied territories and US bases in regional countries, including in the UAE.

Iranian authorities have constantly maintained that any country facilitating aggression against the country will be held directly responsible.

Tehran has demanded compensation from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan for committing internationally wrongful acts by allowing their territories to be used by the US and Israel for attacks against the country.

Recent reporting by the US media also reveals that the UAE played a bigger role in the US-Israeli aggression by launching direct strikes on Iranian targets during the war.

Even after a ceasefire was announced in April, Emirati forces continued to launch attacks against Iranian targets, according to the Wall Street Journal citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the WSJ report, Emirati warplanes’ targets inside Iranian territory included strategic sites on Qeshm and Abu Musa islands in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as locations in Bandar Abbas.

The Emirati warplanes also targeted the Lavan Island oil refinery and the Asaluyeh petrochemical complex. Iran’s energy sector’s infrastructure was the target of the attacks by the Emirati forces.

There have been several reports about close ties between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv amid the war, including visits by the Israeli prime minister and Mossad chief to the UAE.
