Hyderabad: Encroachment demolition triggers traffic snarls between Masjid Banda and Botanical Garden

Hyderabad: Demolition of encroachments as part of road-widening works being carried out by the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has caused severe traffic congestion between Masjid Banda and Botanical Garden.

Those commuting on these stretches experienced long delays as traffic moved slowly through the work zone. The CMC has proposed a 120-foot road-widening project between Masjid Banda and Botanical Garden Road near Dr B R Ambedkar Circle to ensure free movement of traffic.

Officials are demolishing illegal structures and encroachments on both sides of the road by deploying earthmovers. Temporary sheds and commercial encroachments built along the road in the A-Block and B-Block areas of Sriram Nagar Colony have been completely removed.

Police were deployed to prevent any untoward incidents and possible protests by locals. The demolition drive and road expansion works are continuing under police protection. Commuters have been advised to use alternate routes.
