The Iranian Foreign Ministry has said it will strive to honor the legacy of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, by upholding the principles of dignity and independence in foreign policy.
In a statement issued on Saturday to mark the start of public funerals held for the late Leader, the Ministry said that Iran will keep on Ayatollah Khamenei’s glorious and dignified path in dealing with international issues.
“The country’s foreign policy will always keep as its guiding principle his enlightened advice on safeguarding the nation’s dignity, independence, and power, and on maintaining vigilance against the conspiracies of enemies,” said the statement.
It said that the martyrdom of the late Leader, which took place on the first day of the US-Israeli aggression on Iran on February 28, was the beginning of a new phase in the course of progress for Islam and Iran.
The Ministry said that the “patient nation of Iran,” the Muslims, and all truth-seeking and freedom-loving people of the world will continue to seek justice and revenge against the US-Israeli perpetrators of the late Leader’s assassination.
It also expressed its gratitude to all foreign guests who participated in the funeral ceremony for the late Leader in Tehran.
The statement said those who attended the ceremony “despite pressures and threats … stood on the right side of history, and paid their respects to truth and justice.”
Iran began a week of public funerals for the late Leader on Friday with a ceremony dedicated to foreign delegations in Tehran’s Mosalla Mosque.
