Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a lodge in Langar Houz on Friday.
The incident has prompted an investigation to determine whether it is a case of suicide or murder.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Renuka, had checked into a room at Hotel Grand Lodge in the MD Lines area with a 34-year-old man, Farooq, late on Thursday. The man later informed the police that Renuka had allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself in the room in the early hours of Friday.
However, the woman’s family rejected the suicide claim and alleged that she had been murdered.
Following the complaint, the Langar Houz police registered a case and took Farooq into custody for questioning.
The body was shifted to a hospital for an autopsy.
The police are examining all possible angles to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police said further action would be taken based on forensic evidence and the outcome of the investigation.
