Hyderabad: Tension prevailed for a while at the Kanchanbagh Police Station on Thursday when a group of journalists staged a protest alleging police high-handedness during the detention of BRS leaders.

According to eyewitnesses, the reporters gathered at the police station after the police brought several BRS leaders, including former minister T. Harish Rao, R.S. Praveen Kumar, and other senior party leaders, from Telangana Bhavan and detained them at the Kanchanbagh Police Station.

On learning about the developments, reporters reached the police station to cover the incident. However, on noticing the reporters inside the police station premises, local police personnel allegedly pushed them and forced them out of the station.

The journalists later staged a sit-in protest outside the police station and raised slogans against the police action.
