Hyderabad Task Force arrests two for selling expired medicines in Punjagutta

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Khairatabad) on Wednesday caught two persons for allegedly selling expired medicines at pharmacies in the Punjagutta area.

Those arrested were identified as Mohd Azharuddin (41), owner of Al Zamzam Medical and Al Shifa Medical Stores, and Syed Sohail (20), an employee of Al Zamzam Medical Store.


According to the police, acting on a tip-off, the Task Force team conducted a surprise inspection and found that Azharuddin and Sohail were selling medicines that had crossed their expiry date to customers for illegal gain.

“The seized medicines were found to be unfit for human consumption, posing a serious risk to public health and constituting violations of the law,” said Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath.
