Lahore: The PCB has decided to make the Pakistan Super League financially and administratively autonomous even though it is yet to release any audited reports of the last two PSL editions.
The Pakistan Cricket Board said that the 84th meeting of the PCB Board of Governors held on Monday under the chairmanship of Mohsin Naqvi had unanimously approved key administrative and financial decisions, including the surplus budget for the new financial year 2026-27.
The PCB did not full details of the new surplus budget but the meeting approved the budget for the 12th edition of the PSL and decided to make the league administratively and financially autonomous.
Since its launch in 2016, the PSL has operated and been organised by the PCB from its headquarters.
The board increased the number of teams in the league from six to eight this year but are yet to release official audited financial details of the league for its last two editions.
Chief Financial Officer Javed Murtaza gave a detailed briefing on the budget and financial affairs of the upcoming fiscal year to the members.
The PCB said the meeting had also approved an increase of 1 billion rupees for domestic cricket budget, raising it from 3 billion rupees to 4 billion rupees.
The meeting also approved the format of the national cricket team’s new central contracts, payment mechanisms, and an increase in players’ match fees which would now be given out on format basis.
The meeting also hiked match fees for players in the first class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy from 30,000 rupees to 1,00,000 rupees and reserve players’ match fees have been raised from 15,000 rupees to 50,000 rupees.
The Board also approved the allocation of funds for organising Women’s ODI and T20 tournaments, making 12 more cricket grounds operational, and providing resources for human resource improvement and also fixed the minimum wage for regional ground staff at 42,000 rupees.
An allocation of 6.70 billion rupees was also approved for the upgradation of infrastructure, including the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi.
