Speaking in a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein in the capital Baghdad on Sunday, Iran’s top diplomat stated, “My trip to Baghdad takes place under special circumstances, and this is my first trip after the US and Israeli war of aggression launched against Iran and after the heroic resistance of the Iranian people.”
He seized this opportunity to thank the people and government of Iraq for adopting good positions in condemning the US and Israeli aggression against Iran.
“The second purpose of my trip to Iraq is to congratulate the new Iraqi government, and this is the first trip after the formation of the new Iraqi government.”
Today, joint meetings will be held with the Headquarter to Perform Funeral of martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in Iraq, Araghchi added.
The foreign minister of Iraq, for his part, said, “We welcome your presence (Araghchi) in Iraq. The presence of the Iranian foreign minister in Baghdad is very important and he will have intensive and expert-level meetings with Iraqi leaders.”
Iraq attaches great importance to its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields, Fuad Hussein underlined.
