District Transport Officer Venkanna was killed after an out-of-control coal tipper rammed into a seized harvester and then struck him during a vehicle inspection drive in Bhupalpally district. The officer, recently transferred from Jagtial, died on the spot.

Bhupalpally: The district transport officer (DTO) Venkanna (47) was killed in a road accident while he along with staff was engaged in vehicle inspections in front of the road transport office on Monday morning.
According to police, the incident took place while a harvester, seized during a vehicle check, was being moved to a secure location at the office on the outskirts of Chelpur in Ghanapuram mandal.
A speeding coal tipper that went out of control first collided with the harvester; then plowed into Venkanna, who was standing there leaning against his car parked by the side of the road. He died on the spot after being hit by the truck while his car was partially damaged.
Venkanna hails from Hanamkonda and belongs to the 2012 batch. Upon receiving information, Bhupalpally police rushed to the spot; took the tipper driver responsible for the accident into custody; registered a case and initiated questioning.
Officials stated that Venkanna had been transferred to Bhupalpally district just 15 days ago from Jagtial. His death while on duty has left district officials and transport department staff in deep shock.
