Hyderabad: Remembering Telangana ideologue and professor Kothapalli Jayashankar on his death anniversary on Sunday, BRS working president KT Rama Rao and BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao paid rich tributes to him and recalling his contribution to the Telangana statehood movement.

Rama Rao termed Prof Jayashankar as an extraordinary intellectual who articulated the self-respect, identity and aspirations of the people of Telangana while highlighting the region’s historical injustices and the need for a separate State. He said the void left by Jayashankar’s passing could never be filled. He reminded that the Telangana ideologue remained steadfast in his pursuit of statehood until his last breath.

Recalling Prof Jayashankar’s role as a mentor to BRS founder K Chandrashekhar Rao and as the ideological guide of the movement, he said the previous BRS government had honoured him by naming Jayashankar Bhupalpally district and an agricultural college after him.
