Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Eleven suspects were detained for their alleged involvement in the murder of a couple at Kosara hamlet under Thumpelli village in Asifabad mandal on Saturday.
Police said that eleven suspects from Bhavaninagar in Kosara village were detained and were being interrogated in connection with the murder of the couple, Raju Naik (56) and Sushila (46), which took place on the night of June 17. Four of them reportedly confessed to committing the crime. Investigators were focusing on whether others were involved in the offence and were trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
On Wednesday night, Raju Naik and Sushila were murdered while they were asleep at their residence. Their daughter-in-law tried to wake up Sushila to look after her daughter at 4 am. However, the couple were unconscious. They were immediately shifted to a hospital, where they were declared dead.
Anil, son of Raju Naik, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that youngsters from the village might have killed his parents. Police confirmed that the couple was smothered to death based on a report submitted by doctors after the completion of the post-mortem. They took up the investigation and detained suspects as part of the probe. Police are likely to produce the accused before the media soon.
