Cricket Association of Telangana seeks details of district players selected for inaugural TG20 League

Hyderabad: Cricket Association of Telangana, which was formed in 2012 with the specific objective of promoting talented cricketers of Telangana region in the then united Andhra Pradesh and who were not given due importance and exposure, appealed to the Hyderabad Cricket Association and in particular to the Governing Council of TG20 League to give complete details of the players picked from the districts for the inaugural edition of the League starting from June 21.

“As we all know HCA is notorious for various misdeeds over the years and even failed badly in organising summer camps in the districts over the years should furnish details of only the number of district players who participated in the open selections and more importantly the selected players for the TG20 League,” Sunil Babu Kolanpaka, Secretary of CAT, said on Thursday.

Sunil Babu, even while welcoming the TG20 League as it would ensure the desired cricketing activity and give fresh hopes for the young talent, recalled that CAT demanded long back that there should be atleast two players from the district in each of the playing eleven in all age groups.

“We are glad that this rule has been incorporated in the TG20 League. But again, we feel that 80 per cent of the HCA funds should be spent on district cricket and infrastructure development and the HCA must do away giving away annual grants of Rs 5 lakhs to each of the affiliated Clubs,” Sunil Babu said.

“We thank all the franchise owners who bought district players in the teams and we appeal to them to give adequate opportunities to these players in the TG20 League. We also appeal to the owners to sincerely scout talent across the State,” he said.

“Cricket Association of Telangana is formed (in 2012 June) to promote real talented cricketers in the Telangana region who are being neglected and subjected to discrimination. It is not a parallel body to any cricketing organisation. The only objective is to provide a platform to the talent of this region,” the then Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies D Sridhar Babu said after launching the new organisation. Now he is the Cabinet Minister in the present Government!
