Foreign ministers of Iran and South Africa have discussed issues of common concern, particularly the latest developments pertaining to Israel’s war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor held a phone conversation on Wednesday, during which the former hailed developing relations between the two countries and commended “firm and clear” stance of the South African government and nation in support of the oppressed Palestinian people.

Amir-Abdollahian highlighted the importance of the two countries’ joint efforts in the international scene to condemn Israel’s crimes and take practical measures aimed at ending the war and alleviating the sufferings of the oppressed Palestinian people.

Pandor, for her part, said Pretoria pursues a clear and transparent policy on the need to support the Palestinian people and put an end to the Tel Aviv regime’s atrocities.

She added that the South African government has submitted a written request to the International Court of Justice to probe into the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

Israel waged the bloody war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Since the start of the aggression, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 20,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 53,000 others.

Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble in Gaza, which is under “complete siege” by Israel.
