The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked a Sangareddy man for allegedly using a fake registration number on his scooter to evade traffic challans. The cloned number belonged to another vehicle owner, prompting a police investigation into the scooter’s original registration details.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked one P Arun Goud (26) of Sangareddy district for allegedly using a fake registration number on his scooter to evade traffic challans.

The cloned number belonged to a city resident, causing traffic fines to be wrongly issued to the genuine vehicle owner.


Based on inputs from Hyderabad Traffic Police, Sangareddy Town Police registered a case and took up investigation.

Further investigation is underway to identify the vehicle’s original registration number.

Traffic police warned that the use of fake or tampered number plates is a serious offence and said advanced CCTV and ANPR camera systems are being used to detect such violations.
