More Palestinians killed as Israel keeps striking Gaza

More Palestinians killed as Israel keeps striking Gaza

More Palestinians have fallen victim to Israel’s genocidal atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Wafa news agency reported on Thursday Israeli warplanes conducted a series of intense raids on areas in the northern Gaza Strip as well as the south. 27 people were killed and dozens injured in the cities of Rafah and Khan Younis.

The neighborhoods of Daraj and Tuffah in the east of Gaza City were also targeted.

In northern Gaza, bodies of 10 Palestinians were retrieved after Israeli warplanes struck the Jabalia refugee camp.

The regime forces also carried out an execution-style massacre at a school near the Jabalia camp. Eyewitnesses said troops entered the classrooms and opened fire on women and children.

Israel kept up its bombardment on Thursday despite intensifying international calls to reduce civilian casualties.

The vast majority of the population of 2.3 million has fled their homes, many sleeping rough, and left vulnerable to various diseases. The health system has almost collapsed.

At Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, where the trauma ward has been overwhelmed with the wounded, sick babies were also crammed several to a bed. “A number of patients come with cases of extreme dehydration, some of which can get to the point of kidney failure or weakening kidney function,” said Ahmed al-Farra, the pediatrics head.

“So after a month there will be an explosion in the number of cases of hepatitis A, and this is a very dangerous indicator that should be paid attention to, from overcrowding and consuming food not fit for human consumption and using shared toilets.”

Ashraf al-Qudra, the spokesman for the Health Ministry in Gaza, says Israeli forces prevented medical staff from providing care to the injured in the emergency unit of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza. Two of the wounded died as a consequence.

Nearly half of Israeli munitions imprecise ‘dumb bombs’

According to a US intelligence assessment, virtually half of the air-to-ground munitions Israel has used in Gaza since October 7 have been unguided, otherwise known as “dumb bombs.” The rest have been precision-guided munitions, the CNN has reported.

Unguided munitions are typically less precise and can pose a greater threat to civilians, especially in such a densely populated area like Gaza. The rate at which Israel is using the dumb bombs may be contributing to the soaring civilian death toll.

Biden facing growing internal dissent over Israel’s atrocities

President Joe Biden of the United States recently acknowledged Israel had been engaged in “indiscriminate bombing” in Gaza.

Some administration staffers held a vigil in front of the White House late on Wednesday to call on Washington to support a ceasefire.

The group of around 60 people carried a banner that read, “President Biden, your staff demands a ceasefire.”

The demonstrators said in a statement read by Josh Paul, a former State Department official who resigned a few weeks ago, that they “were horrified by the disproportionate response” by Israel.

The Biden administration has been procrastinating in the sale of more than 20,000 US-made rifles to Israel over concerns about increasing attacks by settlers on the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Larry Johnson, a former analyst with the CIA, says the Israeli aggression will end immediately if Washington stops the flow of weapons to the regime.

Speaking to Press TV, Johnson condemned the United States for “enabling” Israel to kill civilians during its bloody onslaught.

“If it (the US) halted the shipment of ammunition, bombs and artillery rounds and told Israel we are going to cut off your economic aid, the war will stop.”
