Hyderabad: A major burglary was reported, where gold ornaments weighing nearly 1 kg was allegedly stolen from the residence of a businessman in Gachibowli.
According to information available, a Nepali couple employed as domestic helps at the house about a month ago is believed to be involved, which the police are now investigating.
The businessman’s family had recently travelled to Mumbai and returned on Monday, and found the couple was missing. Initially, family members assumed the workers had left without informing them, as there were no signs of forced entry or broken locks.
However, suspicion arose after a gold chain adorning an idol in the puja room was found missing. When their checked other places and almirah in the house, several other gold ornaments had been missing.
Based on a complaint, the Gachibowli police booked a case and took up investigation. Officy are examining CCTV footage from the area and collecting other evidence. Meanwhile, special teams have been deployed to trace and nab the suspects and recover the stolen jewellery.
