Hyderabad: A day before the distribution of fish prasadam is to commence on the occasion of Mrigasira Karthi, people from different parts of the country have started to troop in at the venue at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally.

The annual fish prasadam distribution is scheduled to be held on June 8 at 9 pm and continue up to 9 pm on June 9.

The TGSRTC is operating special buses from MGBS and other parts of the city to the venue, while various NGOs have initiated their services to serve food and water to those waiting there. They will continue providing food for two days at the venue.

Members of the Bathini family who organise the fish prasadam distribution said preparations were made for the event, which typically involved administering an herbal paste along with a live fish to patients. “Fish prasadam will be offered free of cost at the venue, and we will ensure that every patient will get it,” they said.

The Fisheries Department kept 1.2 lakh murrel fish seed ready at the venue for fish prasadam distribution. Meanwhile, police made elaborate arrangements and deployed a force to tackle heavy crowds at the queue lines and the counters.
