Hyderabad: A man was booked for allegedly using a fake vehicle registration number plate to evade traffic challans on Thursday.

The suspect , identified as Shaik Ali (37), of Golconda, had affixed the registration number of another Honda Activa to his scooter, causing traffic violations to be wrongly attributed to the genuine vehicle owner.

The fraud came to light recently during a Hyderabad Traffic Police verification drive.

Following which, a case was registered at Langar Houz police station.

Officials later traced the scooter’s actual registration number and issued a notice to the suspect.

Police warned that the use of fake or tampered number plates is a serious offence.
