Former Hyderabad Telephones and Andhra Pradesh state footballer J.E. Sigamony Williams passed away at the age of 86. A respected midfielder, he was remembered for his skill and vision. The football fraternity expressed condolences to his family in Hyderabad.

Former Hyderabad footballer J.E. Sigamony Williams passes away at 86

Hyderabad: J. E. Sigamony Williams, a distinguished footballer who represented Hyderabad Telephones and the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh State team with great dedication and commitment, passes away here on Friday. He was 86 and survived by his only son, Lloyd.

Williams was regarded as an excellent midfielder and earned the respect and admiration of the football fraternity during his playing days.


“I was fortunate to witness his matches at the Gymkhana Ground, Secunderabad, and fondly remember his skill, vision, and contribution to the game,” revealed former India captain Victor Amalraj.

Football fraternity from Telangana visited his residence and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
