Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) Telangana, CV Anand has called for sweeping reforms in the state police force to improve public service delivery, accountability and discipline.

Addressing police officers across the state through a video conference on Saturday, he stressed the need to align policing with emerging challenges such as cybercrime, drug trafficking and road safety.

The DGP announced plans to establish a Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau, strengthen women and child protection mechanisms, and introduce advanced technology platforms to improve policing.

He also said specialised units would be reviewed to meet present-day requirements.

The DGP directed district police chiefs to conduct regular crime reviews, increase field inspections and set aside daily grievance hours for the public.

Reassuring police personnel on welfare measures, he said pending retirement benefits and dues would be released in phases by the government.
