Karimnagar: BJP state president N Ramchander Rao has alleged that the state government had completely failed in paddy procurement.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating training classes for the BJP workers here on Saturday, Ramchander Rao found fault with the state government for its negligence in the procurement of paddy. Though the Centre was providing money for procurement as well as other expenses, the state government was not in a position to purchase the crop.
In order to bring farmers’ problems to the notice of the government, he himself took out a yatra in the name of ‘Rythu Gosa, BJP Barosa’. However, the government has not realised and has been least bothered about the crop though it has been soaked due to unseasonal rains.
Stating that the government lacked proper statistics about the procurement of paddy, the BJP leader said that ministers were disclosing different statistics. It was not proper to create trouble for farmers by denying procurement.
Every expenditure was being provided to the state government by the center. State, which was playing just a middleman’s role in paddy procurement. However, the procurement process became messy due to inefficiency of the state government, he said and demanded that the government complete the process in a war-footing manner.
Reacting on Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s comments on fertilizer, the BJP president suspected that the state government was planning to blame the union government on urea supply in the coming days.
In the wake of the urea shortage and the indifferent situation prevailing across the world, the central government was making all efforts to make available adequate urea. He warned of severe consequences if the state tried to blame the Centre without distributing urea to farmers properly.
