Kothagudem: District Collector Ankit advised officials to remain vigilant in view of unseasonal rains and take measures to protect paddy stocks from rain.
He inspected the paddy procurement centre at Penagadapa in Chunchupalli mandal in the district on Wednesday. Officials explained to the Collector that approximately 1,200 quintals of paddy were currently stocked at the centre and steps were being taken to transport it to the rice mill at Sujatha Nagar within two days.
Ankit told officials to keep tarpaulin sheets ready to keep the paddy dry in case of rain and make arrangements to prevent rainwater from reaching the paddy stocks. He ordered officials to expedite the grain procurement process and take necessary steps to ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties.
He advised them to coordinate loading and transportation operations effectively, ensuring that the procured grain was shifted to rice mills on a regular basis. The Collector wanted officials to maintain transparency in grain procurement and pay special attention to ensuring that farmers receive their payments on time.
