Hyderabad: Manjeera water pumps trip, water supply disrupted in several areas

Hyderabad: Heavy winds and trees falling on power lines on Tuesday late night led to line trips at multiple locations.

“All pumps at Kalablur, Rajampet and Patancheru pumping stations under Manjira Phase-I & II tripped suddenly at 12 midnight following a power supply disruption from TGSPDCL, bringing pumping operations to a complete halt,” a press release stated.

As a result, water supply was temporarily disrupted in several areas, including Ramachandrapuram (RC Puram), Ashoknagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lingampalli, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madinaguda, Miyapur, Biramguda, Aminpur, Bhagyanagar Colony, Erragadda, S.R. Nagar, Ameerpet, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally, Bhagyanagar Colony, Pragathi Nagar, as well as off-take Points and bulk connections, it said

TGSPDCL officials identified power-affected locations and immediately undertook repair works. Pumps will be restarted as soon as power supply is restored, an official release said.

Meanwhile, HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy inquired with officials about the latest status of restoration works and directed them to expedite repairs in coordination with TGSPDCL officials.

Ashok Reddy also instructed HMWSSB officials concerned to restore power and water supply as soon as possible and appealed to the public to use drinking water sparingly, it said.
