Sangareddy: Women of Yelgoi village staged a protest at Jharasangam police station, accusing SI Kranthi Kumar of refusing to register an FIR in a robbery case.

According to villagers of Yelgoi, the victim Narsamma and another woman had gone to agricultural fields on Sunday afternoon when an unidentified person robbed her of gold and silver ornaments after threatening to kill her.

Narsamma (61) reached the Jharasangam police station to lodge a complaint. She revealed the entire episode to SI Kranthi Kumar. However, the police officer allegedly took the woman in his vehicle to the crime scene and abandoned her there, refusing to register a case citing lack of evidence. Narsamma walked back to her village and informed the villagers about the alleged inaction of the SI.

A large number of villagers, particularly women, reached the police station and staged a dharna in front of the police station, protesting against the alleged inaction of SI Kranthi Kumar. The protest disrupted traffic flow. As the situation turned tense, the SI convinced the women to withdraw the protest and registered an FIR.
