Nearly 15k candidates skip UPSC Prelims in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: More than 14,900 candidates skipped the Civil Services Preliminary Examination that was conducted across the city on Sunday.

A total of 44,205 candidates registered and 29,609 appeared for the paper – I. Further, the number of candidates taking the paper – II has come down to 29,262, with absentees at 14,943.


The Paper – I (General Studies) was conducted from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and Paper – II (Civil Services Aptitude Test) from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Candidates must appear for both papers.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Collector in-charge C Narayana Reddy visited examination centres, including one for visually challenged candidates at the Osmania University College of Science, Saifabad, Government Polytechnic College, Masab Tank, and St Ann’s Women’s College. He said the examination was conducted peacefully and smoothly across Hyderabad.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will shortly release the provisional answer key. For the first time, the Commission decided to release the key to make the examination process more participative, while upholding its sanctity, integrity, and merit-based framework.
